Dropped Kerb Crossings

As an Island Roads’ approved contractor we are able to install a dropped kerb crossing at your property.

There is no need for any formal planning permission for a new vehicle access unless your property is located on a classified ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ road. These will commonly be fairly busy, main roads so if you live in a cul-de-sac or residential side street then you won’t need to worry.

If you are unsure of your road’s status then feel free to give us a call to check.

The white line (Access Protection Bar or “APB”) can only be installed by Island Roads but we can happily apply for this on your behalf.

If you are looking to create a new vehicle entrance onto your property then you will need to have the pavement strengthened and re-profiled in accordance with Island Roads’ specification.

Here at J A Dempsey Civil Engineering, we are able to handle this process for you, from start to finish.

We will complete all of the paperwork, pay the application fees and deposits and liaise with Island Roads on your behalf at every stage to make this a stress-free experience for you.

It is worth noting that the same process also applies for customers looking to extend or adjust an existing dropped kerb.
